Dorman 741-072 GMC Envoy XUV Midgate Window Regulator with Motor Review

This product was identical to what came out of my 2004 Envoy XUV. It took about two hours to complete the repair with just some basic tools, screw drivers, pliers, sockets etc. One word of caution. There is a micro switch attached to the regulator with the purpose of completing the circuit to the midgate release button so the midgate can't be lowered with the window not fully lowered. This switch is attached to the regulator by sliding it onto a metal tab which is part of the regulator. The problem is when you go to slide it off of the regulator the plastic retaining portion of the switch can break as mine was very brittle due to age of the vehicle. The switch is not readily available so I had to cobble the switch back into place. I have ordered the switch but it has yet to come in. The GM part number that was on my switch was 15118520 which oddly supercedes to a 10371673. If you don't have this switch working properly you will not be able to use your midgate in the lowered position. When the regulator failed there was a loud pop and my midgate window proceded to lower over the course of a 150 mile trip. By doing some research on line I felt the failure of the regulator was the cause of the noise and that turned out to be the case. I also found some basic step by step instructions for the repair and altough those were somewhat helpful there were a few things I had to figure out by visual inspection. You can feel safe in ordering this item if you have the same failure.
