Overall would rate this a a 1/2 decent shaft (mostly smooth finish, undamaged splines) and only time will tell if this lasts as long as the original. Still, for those J-truck owners looking for a rag-joint replacement, this CJ-type shaft is a nice upgrade (check the Jeep forums such as IFSJA et al).

This is a decent replacement however the fit/finish is suspect as indicated by the light rust underneath the paint, on the weld of the lower u-joint (kinda looks like a good high-school effort made in shop class - should be strong enough but not the prettiest I've seen). As major rust is now expected within a year, that section was repainted with a few coats of anti-rust spray paint (the eye-sore weld will just have to be left alone).

Also, wasn't expecting this to be made overseas (China) but then again with most manufacturing nowadays this is sadly too often the case (I'm not trying to open up a political or philosophical debate here; it's just a lower steering shaft after all). So now I'm a little dubious of the quality of the metal (though Omix-Ada product used in the past has been ok)
