Every core goes through a rigorous quality control process prior to being accepted for remanufacturing. If the core doesn't meet our stringent standards, it's sold to a core broker who will find a remanufacturer with lower standards. In the end, it all comes down to quality and DENSO produces the finest remanufactured parts on the market. Precision designed, performance tested, OE-standard quality - that's what the DENSO name stands for.Denso 210-0181 Remanufactured Alternator Review
They do not make this alternator anymore, so the only alternative is is to buy an aftermarket or rebuilt one. I chose the rebuilt by the OEM as it would meet the spec from the OEM - DENSO; this was direct fit my for 95 Toyota Land Cruiser and other Toyotas.I have begun realize how important it is to have alternator that is up to spec (voltage hertz and amps and sine wave- polarity oscillation) with your systems controlling your computer systems (ECM etc) on your car. Once your alternator start to fail (it may charge the battery still) but it creates some issues with the computers, as the manufactures create this equipment to work within a spec; even with 18 year old vehicle or maybe more-so. A lot of aftermarket alternators will work but they are built in China and fail outside of the spec in some areas and you just get more electrical issues that eventually harm your electrical systems, engine and transmission.
I have had boat and cars that I got aftermarket alternators for and they caused problems that led to eventual break downs. I have replaced a number of electrical parts, including batteries and finally going back to the alternator and finding out that it was not working correctly. The voltage came up but the cycles were off and the voltage regulator was not working correctly, screwing up my computers and overcharging my batteries.
Since I installed this alternator the vehicle is running like it should (new) and I have seen no unusual spike in voltage or change in in sine wave or anything else The only problem I had was that Denso or Toyota designed a proprietary plug into the Alternator and mine broke while I was removing the old one, so be very careful.
Also, Toyota, stop under sizing your gauge wires in your wiring harness. It causes voltage drops and I am sure my original alternator would have lasted another 50k miles if it was not for this let alone some other components that I have had to replace. Especially in a vehicle that was $48k when new in 95!
