I bought this to replace an original Saginaw manual steering box in a custom built vehicle that uses a 1974 Jeep Cherokee frame. The original box had been adjusted well beyond the maximum and had "notchy" steering feel when turning. I will eventually convert to power steering, but that will require some modifications that I want to defer until next year. Therefore I didn't want to invest too much in a replacement manual box and was "bargain hunting" for something to get me by in the interim. I had read too many complaints about cheap rebuilt boxes & decided to try this relatively economical (sale price) new Omix-Ada box through Amazon. Externally the box appears to be the same size as the original. It felt excessively tight on the bench (as I would expect a new one to be) but had a nice smooth feel when exercising lock-to-lock several times. It bolted in without a hitch and the vehicle now steers like new. Complaints: The unit came without any written documentation. I would have liked to see some information on the type of lubricant used/recommended by the manufacturer. I'm giving it 5-stars because of fit and initial driving impressions. However, durability is a huge factor in a steering box and that's something only time can reveal.
