Bosch 67415 Original Equipment Replacement Electric Fuel Pump Review

Original pump module in my 2003 Trailblazer LTZ 4.2L 6 cylinder (short wheelbase, not an "EXT") 4X4 was a Bosch unit made in USA. The fuel tank itself has a paper part-number tag near the gas fill hose, my tank is P/N 15190422. This pump module may fit other tanks, though.

Some of the part numbers on the paper tag on the original pump module are "F 00H KF0 059", and "GM P/N 15076623"

This replacement Bosch pump module is made in Mexico, and has the same "F 00H KF0 059" number printed on the top. There is no GM number, however.

The Mexican replacement pump has a thinner stamped-sheetmetal top piece. Probably doesn't make any real difference. Pump ships with an O-ring seal, original pump had a formed-rubber seal. Again, probably doesn't make any functional difference (but my original seal was in perfect condition, so I re-used it.) For practical purposes, this pump is identical to the original.

The original pump had 126K miles on it, worked perfectly--but I replaced it because my bride tends to run the vehicle nearly out-of-gas which is hard on electric fuel pumps--and we planned a 4,000 mile trip with it next week. I didn't want fuel pump problems while we were "on the road".

Be sure to clean out all the rust particles from the bottom of the gas tank when changing pumps.

GM recommends a "special tool" to remove the retainer ring holding the pump module in position. I pushed the plastic locking tab out of the way, and then used a hammer and punch to turn the retainer ring. VERY EASY, and zero damage to the retainer ring. Tap a few times in one place, move 1/3 around the ring, tap a few times, move 1/3 around the ring, tap a few times--retainer spins right out.

Total time from lifting the vehicle to test-drive was about five hours. Others can do it in much less time. I work slow.

Short story: I'm entirely satisfied with this pump--it fits and works perfectly--but I wish it were Made In USA like the original. At least it's not Communist Chinese.
