Bosch AL7606N New Alternator Review

My OE alternator in my 6.0L Powerstroke was starting to show varying voltage output after 140k miles, a precursor to an alternator failing. Note that I have a good voltmeter in my truck for monitoring. The unit was a direct fit and installed in about 15 minutes. The higher output shows up not only during the initial cold startup with higher voltage (the Glow Plugs pull so many amps that the OE alternators will only keep up below 12vdc until the GP cycle is complete), but I have a higher and more normal voltage when running then with the OE alternator. A 140 amp unit is supplied by Ford on the snowplow equipped trucks and IMO it should have been the standard alt for these applications to keep the FICM supplied with adequate voltage during the stressful GP / injector spool heating sequence.

Anyway, good product that has worked well now for several months.
